A parenteral liquid infusion set comprises flow tubing, and means for connection to blood vessel penetrating means and a parenteral liquid source at opposite ends thereof. A drip chamber is present in the set having a tubular drop-forming member of reduced inner diameter. An intermediately positioned site is present for providing access to the interior of the set from the exterior, the site being positioned downstream from the drip chamber. In accordance with this invention, a portion of the fluid flow tubing downstream from the connection site defines a bore of reduced diameter, when compared with the remainder of the flow tubing, to prevent the creation of a less than atmospheric pressure in the set and to prevent air from being sucked into the flow tubing through an administration set connected at the intermediately positioned site.

The invention relates to medical technology. A device for intravenous infusion is known, which contains containers for infusion solutions with dispensing tubes, including droppers with drop-forming tubular elements, a common intermediate pipe, end flexible tubes, blood vessels, and adapters for the addition of gas and drugs 1. However Using this device does not exclude the likelihood of air entering the blood vessel, which leads to the development of an air embolism. The aim of the invention is to increase airborne safety. This goal is achieved by the fact that in the device the flexible end tubes have an opening diameter from 0.254 to 1.016 mm and a length of not less than 127 mm, and the cap-forming tubes are made with an internal opening diameter from 0.254 to 1.016 mm and a wall thickness of a greater wall thickness of the flexible tube. The device contains a source of infusion fluid in the form of a container, a distribution tube 2 with droplets 3, including a drip head) tube 4, a connecting end tube 5 and means of insertion into a blood vessel, including needle holder 6 with a needle 7. In addition, the device contains intermediately installed means supply of medical preparations to the device from the external environment, which include a container 8 for medical preparations, a flexible tube 9 equipped with a clamp 10 and a dropper 11 with a dripping tube 12. The tube 9 is connected to the distribution tube 2 via a tee 13. The distribution tube 2 is provided with a valve 14 for one-way operation and a clamp 15. The flexible end tube 5 has an inside diameter of the opening 16 from .0.254 to 1.016. 3) and a length of at least 127 mm. Distributor tube 2 has a hole diameter of 17 from 1.27
up to 3.8 mm. Drop-forming tubes 4 and 12 are made with an internal diameter of the hole from 0.254 to 1.016 mm and a wall thickness of a greater wall thickness of the flexible tube 2.
When the device is in operation, the selected diameter of the hole and the length of the tube 5 create conditions for the outflow of fluid, whereby the possibility of air being sucked into the distribution tube 2 from the intermediately installed means of supplying medical preparations from the external pipe is connected. Moreover, these conditions are preserved even in the case of complete emptying of the container 8 for medical preparations. If medical devices are supplied to the device from an intermediate means under pressure, which exceeds the pressure in the device, it may be possible for fluid from tube 9 to flow upwards through tee 13 in direction K of tank 1. To eliminate this probability, valve 14 interferes with the flow of fluid up to the drop of the shadow pipe 4 and the tank 1.
Thus, the design of the device ensures that air does not enter the circulatory system during infusion of the infusion fluid. In this way, the safety of the intravenous infusion is ensured.

Invention Formula
A device for intravenous infusion, containing containers for infu3 ionic solutions with dispensing tubes, including droppers with droplet-forming tubular elements, a common intermediate pipe, end flexible tubes, blood vessel attachment elements, and adapters for additional administration of gas and drugs.
